Australian Visa Tips
  • If you are not an Australian citizen and wish to enter Australia you will need a Australian visa. (Exceptions apply to NZ citizens with NZ passports.)
  • You can get an Australian visa from Australian Embassies, Consulates and in some countries through travel agents.
  • The type of visa you will need depends on how long you plan to stay, and why you are coming to Australia.
  • An Australian tourist visa generally allows you to stay in Australia for up to 3 months.
  • You can not work in Australia on an Australian tourist visa and by doing so you may jeopardise future entry into Australia.
  • Young adults under 30 years of age may be eligible for a working holiday maker (WHM) visa which will allow you to stay in Australia for up to 12 months and find employment to supplement your stay.
  • A WHM visa is only available to residents of countries with a reciprocal arrangement, e.g. UK, Canada, The Netherlands
  • You should arrange your Australian visa before you buy your plane ticket or make any travel arrangements.
  • You should always be honest in your visa application.
  • You should never stay longer than your Australian visa allows.
